The PC picked up a simple virus - it affected the login/activation script. It could have been fixed (I saw the solution online, but it involved messing about with registry files, so I was a bit reluctant) but the helper said that my PC needed a fresh install as it was so “heavily infected”. It took him 2 hours to get to this point and so we agreed that he could come back. He came back two days later, (having not been available the next day.) After wiping the hard drive - and trying to install the new OS, there was a error message saying the disk was locked. Again, I have now looked on line and there is a simple solution to this. However, the ITSquad member told us that he couldn’t’ fix anything and that we needed a new hard drive. Having lost faith completely in his ability to do anything constructive, we agreed that he could leave. From a simple virus clean up, I have now been left with a completely functionless computer. No operating system and the whole thing is not working. When he arrived, the PC was running perfectly well in safe mode with no problems, so I am understandably somewhat sceptical about my “broken” hard drive. To be honest, I certainly would not recommend this helper at all. And just to be clear, my husband was at no point, rude.
